Visiting Ren’ai Township in Nantou County felt like a refreshing escape into the mountains. Nantou County is located in Central Taiwan where lots of mountain ranges are located. The high altitude gave the entire area a cool, crisp feeling, and the air was noticeably fresher than in the city. Everywhere we looked, layers of mountains rolled into the distance, creating views that felt peaceful and almost untouched. The quiet atmosphere and natural beauty made it easy to slow down and appreciate the surroundings.
One of the best parts of the trip was exploring the local trails. Ren’ai is known for its great hikes, and each path offered something different, from forested walks to open viewpoints overlooking valleys and hills. The scenery made every step worthwhile, and the slightly lower temperatures at high altitude made hiking even more enjoyable. After a long day outdoors, we treated ourselves to comforting meals like hotpot and roasted chicken, both of which tasted even better in the cool mountain air.
